The construction and operation of landfills is governed by the strict internal regulations of the company, which guarantee compliance with EU standards as well as the applicable legislation of the Slovak Republic. We prefer to build new landfills on sites that are ecologically burdened by previous human activity. After filling, the landfill area is gradually closed and reclaimed, resulting in a configuration and appearance of the landfill body that fits in well with the surrounding landscape, or is similar to the state of the terrain that the landscape was often in decades ago.
Each landfill is equipped with its own monitoring system for both surface water and groundwater. All leachate from the landfill body is captured in drainless retention tanks and, after quality control, is discharged to wastewater treatment plants. The tightness of the HDPE film is measured by an electronic system.
