Tatranská odpadová spoločnosť s.r.o., Žakovce started its activity at the operation – Úsvit Landfill – in 2004, while until 2004 the operation of the landfill was provided by the company Lobbe – Žakovce, spol. s r.o. Tatranská odpadová společnost s.r.o., Žakovce mainly provides the disposal of non-hazardous, hazardous and inert waste from natural and legal persons.

Since 2009, a cogeneration unit for the combustion of landfill gas has been in operation at the landfill of Tatranská odpadová spoločnosť s.r.o., Žakovce (Úsvit Landfill). The combustion of landfill gas, which is actively extracted from the landfill bodies, produces electricity which is fed into the grid.
